For those looking for a bit more adventure and are willing to spend more to do some of the major “extras” in Disney World, there are a great number of choices.
At Downtown Disney you will find the Characters in Flight attraction. A tethered balloon ride taking you up to 400 feet above downtown Disney, this experience offers a full view of the entire Disney World Property. Once at max altitude, you can walk around in a full circle to see in every direction. Bring a camera and maybe even your binoculars!
At EPCOT there are multiple water based adventures available to non-swimmers thru certified SCUBA divers as well as several land based extras.
The Dolphins in Depth tour is a three hour experience learning about the dolphins at the Seas With Nemo and Friends Pavilion at EPCOT. The tour concludes with an opportunity for an up close experience with a dolphin. Disney uses the word “opportunity” because this experience is dependent on the voluntary participation of the dolphin. Disney can make no guarantee that you will be able to enjoy the “up-close” part of this tour.
The Seas Aqua Tour at EPCOT allows Guests to swim on the surface of the saltwater tank inside the Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion. Guests use a supplied-air snorkel system and do not need to be scuba certified. Guests must be at least 8 years of age. Guests ages 8-16 years old require participating adult. The experience lasts 2.5 hours, and Guests will spend approximately 30 minutes swimming in the Coral Reef aquarium.
EPCOT DiveQuest is a SCUBA diving experience that takes place in the massive salt water tank at the Seas With Nemo and Friends Pavilion. This is a three hour tour of which about 40 minutes will be spent underwater. I have yet to do this one, but it has been high on my list ever since watching the divers while eating dinner at the Coral Reef restaurant.
For a land based tour, head over to Fort Wilderness and check out the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure on a Segway x2! Unfortunately, the Around the World at EPCOT Segway tour has been discontinued.
